Growing up in Ruston was a very special time for Annie and her family. She spent many, many hours playing with her brothers and friends at their family home outside Ruston where laughter and love were always the most important part of her days. She was the older sister, and her days of mothering started early, sometime much to the dismay of her younger brothers. She loved them beyond definition. The passion for her family only intensified when she began to have children of her own. She never needed much, just to have her family close and to make sure her husband and children were always taken care of and for them to know they were the most important people in her life. Annie‚ life was not without trial, but she never, never gave up. No matter how difficult things were for her sometimes, she always stood tall and faced her future with love and grace for those around her. The size of her heart was immeasurable. People who came to know Annie, both friends and acquaintances, knew Annie would do anything she could for them anywhere, anytime. She will be dearly missed as a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful daughter, sister and friend.Annie is survived by her husband, Jason Bailey Carrier, daughter, Gabrielle Anne Holt, son, Aiden Bailey Carrier and daughter, Stevie Ray Carrier; her mother, Sally Dykes Smith, her father, Stephen Otis Smith and wife, Donna Barlow Smith; two (2) brothers, Stephen Hunter Smith and his wife Becky and their three (3) sons, Lander, George and Jack and John Robert Smith and his wife Mandy and their son, Roe. She is also survived by her loving aunt Martha Smith Dickson Bigler, her husband Bill of Shreveport and her children, Michael and Addie; her maternal grandmother, Kathleen Beary Cook and aunts, Stephanie Cook Hutchison, Caroline Cook Gernhauser, Betsy Cook and Melanie Cook; uncle, David Paul Dykes and wife Nancy. Preceding Annie to her eternal home were her grandparents, John Atkins Dykes and Rosemary Bulling Dykes, and Martha McDade Smith Grandmommy and Robert Otis Smith, most whom passed away before Annie was old enough to really know them, but her Grandmommy was Annie‚ mentor and example of how to love others and to show grace and forgiveness. Annie loved her like no other and remarked recently how much she missed her. She doesn’t have to miss her any longer. As one of Annie‚ survivors, it would not be appropriate to not mention a lady who helped us raise Annie for many, many years and is a dear family friend, Ms. Eva Wells. Without her, we wouldn’t have made it.Pallbearers will be Justin Carrier, Dylan Carrier, Michael Dickson, Richard Ray Nolen, Jr., J. Frost Merriott, and Adam Bamburg. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude‚ Children Hospital, the Louisiana Methodist Children‚ Home in Ruston or Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston in Annie‚ memory.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
