Billy Bryant was born on May 21, 1940 in Patterson, VA and passed away on September 4, 2014 at Christus St. Joseph's Home in Monroe, LA. He was a widower with no children. He graduated from NLU with degrees in Science, Business and Construction Management. He worked in commercial construction. He was a Golden Glove Boxer, a sky diver and loved to sing and play the guitar. He loved all kinds of music and loved to read sports books and magazines. He loved to fish and was an avid Saints and LSU fan. Mr. Billy was a Mason and was in the Army and served here in the United States. He loved to roll around the halls of St. Joseph's and see all his friends. He especially loved it when Paul Ford of Caring Hearts came to play the piano and sing.He is survived by his brothers, Bobby Lee Bryant and wife, Mary Lou, and Bernard “Bunzy” Bryant and wife, Mary Lynn; nieces, Elizabeth Ellen Bryant, MicheleÉÖ M. Lowentritt, and CheryleÉÖ L. Bryant; nephew, Clinton Bernard Bryant and numerous great nieces and nephews.A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.”The valley was deep but the mountain was high”

In fond memories of Billy Ray when he visited the office at Welsh Properties and gave us a musical show of his talent singing and playing the guitar.

My dad was Billy's roommate at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. We are deeply saddened by the death of Billy. He was so thoughtful, considerate, and helpful to my dad. He always put the needs of others before his own. His well-mannered, optimistic, and respectful ways were such a blessing to everyone at the nursing home. He will be greatly missed.

Bobby and Bunzy..I just learned of Billy's passing. So sorry to hear this. I lost my husband 11/2 years ago. A couple of months back I was thinking about the past in my old hometown and people I had known. AND, thoughts went back to Billy. Would never have thought I would be seeing his obituary this soon. We all loved Billy. He was one of the good guys. May God be with you all during this time of grief. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Bobby and Bunzy, I was so sorry to hear of Billy's death. He was my and Zeke's witness when we got married and I have precious, funny and dear memories of those years. I had not seen Billy in several years but he holds a special place in my heart. My condolences to your family.

Bunzy and Bobby Lee: I was truly shocked to read of Billy's passing today in the NSW. You guys may not remember me, but my dad was Gerald Green. He and Billy used to run together when I was younger. Billy was a hero to me when I was younger. I still have arrowheads he gave me. When my dad died in '86, Billy was there for us and helped me work through some of the pain. When I met the Lord in '96, Billy had just been through a renewed experience with Jesus and was able to support me then too. I last saw Billy just after my twins were born in late 2009 or early 2010. He was living at Claiborne Creek at the time. I had no idea he had moved into St. Joseph's or we would have gone to see him. I am very sorry for your loss, but I know I will see Billy again. So will you. He will be the young, strong Billy that enjoyed life and had no pain that we all like to remember. I never saw him when he wasn't more worried about me or someone else than he was about himself. I am going to miss him badly. I truly regret that I did not do a better job of keeping track of him. I hope y'all know how highly we all thought of him and how deeply I regret letting a friend like Billy down by not visiting him at St. Joseph's. He was truly a great friend.

Bunzy, Bobby--I am so sorry to hear that Billy passed away. I know he had heavy challenges in life and somehow we just lost contact w/one another but Billy was important in my life---a fraternity brother, roommate,friend & confidant. I did not know he was in St. Josephs' or would have visited him. God bless him, you/your families and I will pray for his soul; your comfort and remember again the good times in our youth!

Bobby and Bunzy do know this heart lays down heavy as these eyes weep with you. Wonderful memories lay in my minds eye of Billy, his kindness and love he bestowed to all he met. Much love from this heart to yours.

What can we say at a time like this? My closest friend in high school and an acquaintance for over 60 years is gone. Even when we know things are "close at hand"...it hits mighty hard when it does happen. I loved Billy Ray (Bill) Bryant; and he was as close (or closer) than my brothers. But with this sadness, comes the good...WE KNOW where he now resides, Praise God!, he was ready! and now resides with Earl and Mary and the rest of his spiritual family. May God bless you all, Bobby, Bunzy and the remainder of the Family, during your time of sorrow. I remain, FOREVER a friend.
