Services for Blanche Louise Hannah Futrell will be conducted at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11:00AM with Rev. Dwayne Monk officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant, LA.Visitation will be on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 5-7PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.She was born in Moores Bridge, Alabama, one of 10 children to Audie & Ada Hannah. She made it to 97 years old last Saturday on January 30, 2016. She received her education in the Tuscaloosa County Schools and was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School in Northport, Alabama. She also was a graduate of Druid City Hospital School of Nursing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.After graduation she moved to Louisiana where she was Director of Riverside Hospital nursing staff. She then moved to Shreveport, La where she was a surgical nurse at P&S Hospital. She then moved to Ruston where she worked at the Ruston Hospital as director of nursing until Lincoln General Hospital was built and she became the first director of nursing there for the next 8 years. She worked at Glenwood Regional Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital in Monroe for a short period of time. She then became the director of nursing services at Alpine Guest Care Center in Ruston for 7 years. She also worked for a home health agency for several months before her final retirement from nursing. Her career lasted 42 years as a registered nurse.She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant, La and was an active member in church work while still able. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and doing things for other people.She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, five sisters, her loving husband of 64 years Milton Futrell & her precious son Tony Leon Futrell.She is survived by her loving daughter Hannah Gayle Futrell Smith and husband Randy, Four grandsons, Thomas Richard Futrell (Leslea), Daniel Wade Futrell (Emily), Walter Brian Smith (Pam) & James Jeffrey Smith and granddaughter Kellie Vincent (Roger). She also has 4 great grandsons, Hunter, Tyler & Keller Vincent & Hudson Futrell. She has also has 2 daughter-in-laws that were dear to her heart, Della Beard (Kerry), and Sherree Futrell. She has also had a very dear friend that was like a sister to her, Macelle Smith. The Walter & Macelle Smith family has been there to love and help her and she loved each and every one of them dearly.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tom, Dan, Brian, Jeffrey & nephews James Futrell & LaBree Gambrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Parker & Henry Hannah of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Ted Parker of Kentucky.Music will be provided by Anita Murphy & Jimmy Leggett.She was a resident of The Arbor & Terrace of Ruston for the last 5 years. She wanted to thank each and every one who had any part in taking care of her there. She was so happy being there and made many close friends.
