Today we laid to rest one of the sweetest, best women ever to grace this earth. My grandmother never met a stranger and had a smile and friendship for absolutely everyone. She was generous and kind, warm and funny. She lived life with an energy at 88, almost 89, that most people less than half her age would envy, and she lived all her days to the fullest. At almost 90 years old, my grandma sang in a gospel band at her nursing home, and she loved to perform. She found joy in the smallest things as well as the largest. She was blessed with a family who loves her very much, and taught us much about love and family. She was fortunate enough to have a long life that gave her opportunity to bring smiles and joy to many people. I never walked into the room without feeling like the most special person in the world, seeing the look of absolute joy she always had when I came to visit her. She was the one who brought me home from the hospital, and loved me as only a grandmother can. I feel she truly would have been honored with the celebration of her life today and would encourage us to be happy and try to live life with the same gusto she did. We will always miss you, Grandma
