I was born and raised in Franklin and know all of the Shinn family. GG was lead singer fit the Flattops and I played bass for the Del Royals. He was a very talented guy. I remember the day he was mowing the lawn for his mom and somehow got his foot under the mower, losing his bid toe.My favorite story is the line he used to get through a crowd at a bar to get a drink: Make a hole, lady with a baby!

It was in mid 60's every Thursday night at the Bamboo Club in Lake Charles. Still a High School student I would go just to see the band and listen to GG sing, every Thursday night a SCHOOL NIGHT. I was allowed to go as long as my grades didn't suffer. I found it fascinating the entire band was so talented and his voice was just out of this world. I married and moved away from Southwest Louisiana, but upon coming back to visit I found The Boogie King Album, and brought it back to Michigan. My friends there were fascinated at the type of music from here, nothing to compare to the energy, rhythm, and arrangements of the songs on that album. Wore out three of them. I now have the CD. The Righteous Brothers made an appearance in Lake Charles during the late 60's. I went to see them, and though very talented and entertaining they had nothing over GG. Though I have not seen him entertain since the late 60's he and all the band members have not been forgotten, because without those Thursday nights and those albums my life would not have been the same. I would like to take this opportunity to express profound condolences to the family, and thank his wife and children for sharing him with so many people, as it couldn't have been an easy life for them. I sincerely hope these messages from fans will bring some measure of comfort to all of you during your bereavemt, You have been and will remain in my prayers.

We have followed Gg since we teenagers in Orange, Texas. He was the greatest and we can not imagine not ever hearing his voice again. We were so sad not to be able to come for the services. My wife teaches and was preparing her class room for the first day of school, the day of the funeral. Our sincere sympathy, Love and prayers to lovely Sandra, and all the family. Gg was the best of the best, we both loved him and will miss him greatly. He will always in in our heart and we will always cherish the fabulous times we had over 55 years following G and his music . He was truly a great musician and an even great entertainer.

For Sandra and family, I have known George since 1963 when he first started with the Boogie Kings when they first started. The real glory days of the Boogie Kings when he and Jerry were the Blue Eyed Soul Brothers, They packed houses every where they played, they were awesome. Were were friends. There are no words to say that will really comfort you at this time, but know that George was loved and respected by thousands of people all over Texas and Louisiana. I pray that when all this is over that your family and friends will be there for you when the fans have faded. Dru H Durall

G.G. Shinn to me was very truly indeed one of the music world most talented and creative music industry entertainers. And a totally awesome mentor to others and philanthropist as well. It was a wonderful experience and great honor to be his bass guitar player when we were G.G. Shinn and the T.S.C. Trucking Company Band. He gave me the nick name "CUZ" which I shall honor and cherish forever. God Bless You my beloved former Boss & music Soul Brother always and forever!
