James Michael Hashimoto, Age 54 of Ruston, Louisiana

Born September 11, 1962 at Travis AFB, Fairfield, CA

Passed away at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, TX on February 11, 2017

Visitation will be held Wednesday February 15, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home at 209 N. Bonner St., Ruston, LA.

Service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Burkhalter Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

James graduated from North Pulaski High School in Jacksonville, AR c/o ’80; Member of the Elks Lodge in Santa Maria; Trinity United Methodist Church of Ruston, LA.; Videographer for the Ruston High School Bearcat Band

As a child of a US Airman, James lived all over, but his true home was the Central Valley of California – Tulare.  In his early 20’s, the family travels led him to Pine Bluff, AR. It was there, in 1982, he met Jon’ Sims. They were good friends then but both moved away. As fortune would have it, their paths crossed again, and their lives were forever changed. They fell in love, married and started their 31 year adventure of love, laughter, and three children – Jacob, Lucas, and Mia.

James and Jon’ married in Louisiana but made their first home in California. They loved their 14 years living in California. Some of the happiest memories from their afternoons out on the basketball courts playing pick-up games with the unsuspecting and 3 on 3 basketball tournaments with groups of friends in Oakland where they once ‘won’ a toilet bowl trophy. These fun times later led to annoyed kids who would find out from Daddy-o (James), while seeing places on TV, that mom and dad had travelled to places they wanted to go “without” them. For the boys, Jacob and Lucas, it was really just before they were old enough to remember.

People were instantly drawn to James’ charm and wit making him a great friend to many.  He will be remembered for many reasons some of which are his generosity of spirit, love of family, and his wicked sense humor.

There are so many reasons he will be missed that all can’t be listed, but none like his pancakes in the morning and sometimes dinner; his ability to fix any problem the kids had which earned him the nickname “Mr. Wizard” from them and their friends; his lifetime love of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Rams regardless of city, and his adopted home team of the New Orleans Saints.

James was a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, friend who will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
