Jesse W. MooreDubach, LA Jesse W. Moore, 91, of Dubach, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017. Born on August 22, 1925 in Fairbanks LA, he was the son of Jesse Moore and Vashti Edwards Moore. He graduated from Marion High School in 1942 and from Harding College in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration. It was at Harding he met the love of his life, Sue Priestley. The couple married in August 1949 and moved to Dubach one month later for Jesse to begin a coaching position at Dubach High School. He was passionate about sports, especially baseball. He was a member of the Louisiana High School State Baseball Championship Team in 1942, and he played approximately 10 seasons in the Big 8 Semipro Baseball League. He coached several teams over the years in Dubach. In addition, he officiated basketball, baseball, and softball for approximately 50 years beginning in 1951 and also served as Assignment Secretary for the LHSAA, Ruston Association for approximately 25 years. Jesse served in the US Army Signal Corp from August 1943 until honorably discharged after the end of WWII in 1945, stationed in the South Pacific after training. He worked for Southwest Gas from December 1950 until he retired. Jesse served for approximately 10 years on the Dubach Town Council, and as Mayor of Dubach for 1 year. He served many years on the Lincoln Parish Library Board. Jesse was baptized into Jesus Christ in 1948 and became a member of the Ruston Church of Christ in 1949, later serving as a deacon for several years before serving as an elder for 30+ years until his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Iris Moore and Darlene DeMoss, and a baby boy. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sue Priestley Moore; a son, Mark Moore (Mary Beth) of El Dorado AR; a daughter, Becky Moore Murphy (Tommy) of Ruston; grandchildren: Elizabeth Moore Williamson (Blake) of El Dorado, AR; Jennifer Moore Cleveland (Derrick) of Oklahoma City, OK; Amanda Murphy Kavalir (Justin) of Ruston, LA; and Joe Murphy of Ruston, LA; and great grandchildren: Grace Williamson, Walker Williamson, Madeline Cleveland, Laurel Cleveland, Emma Sue Kavalir and Abby Jo Kavalir. Memorials may be made to the Ruston Church of Christ, 2300 West Woodward Ave, Ruston, LA 71270, or to the organization of one choice. Funeral services to be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Jim Davis.
