John Wesley Moore was born on Moore Ridge in Richland Parish on July 30, 1926, the son of Cora and Bell Moore. At a young age, he learned that hard work, honesty and love of family were what mattered most. Growing up in the swamps of Richland and Ouachita Parish, he learned how to handle a gun, hoe a field and have a good time. He enlisted in the Army during World War II at the age of 17, and became part of The Greatest Generation that ever lived. It was during his time at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas that he sharpened his skill as a mechanic. In 1958, he met a sweet little girl from Energy, Mississippi that would become his partner in marriage for the next 55 years. Ruby Neal was truly a gem. Thus, Uncle John and Aunt Ruby became a favorite to anyone and everyone who knew them. He worked as a carpenter by trade and together they would build a home and raise six children. Uncle John loved dancing and hosted a large New Year Party each year. Memories were made as Uncle John and Aunt Ruby would throw some cornmeal on the floor and dance a two-step all night long.John was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Neal Moore; parents, Cora and Bell Moore; brothers, Jessie, Frank, Lonnie and T.J.
