Funeral services for Joseph Beavers, Jr. “Big Joey”, will be held at 10:00 A M, Friday, September 7, 2018 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. Clovis Sturdivant will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 6 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Joey was born October 1, 1956 in Tokyo, Japan and passed away September 2, 2018 in West Monroe. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Lois Beavers; in-laws, James and Alice Searcy; friends, Paul Crocker and Jerry Lane Christy, 2 nephews, Tony and J.R. Searcy and brother-in-law, Gary “Slick” Searcy.

Joey loved to hunt and fish. He was a true Louisiana Sportsman. He could tell you hunting stories that would make your side hurt with laughter. Joey could tell you stories of the biggest buck he bagged all the way to the one that got away. He was like a spoiled child with all of his “man toys.” Joey loved to grill and cook; his gumbo, steaks and deer meat were the best you’d ever eat.

Joey was a hard working man and worked for many years as a welder. He could weld and make many beautiful things with iron and steel. His work was truly amazing. He loved to do home improvement projects and was always piddling outside with something. Joey loved his dogs, especially Rosie. They shared a special bond, from playing in the living room to Joey riding Rosie in the back of the ranger; they were inseparable. He also loved his yellow black mouth curdog, Kate Dagger, better known as K.D. Joey would always sing to her, “I got a wife and a curdog too, my wife don’t love me but my curdog do!” Above all this Joey adored his family. He loved nothing more than being a “paw paw” to his grandsons, a daddy to Jodi and Joey, and a husband and best friend to his wife, Connie. Joey was a provider and protector and always put his family first. He always said, “when one of our phones ring, all of our phones ring.” We are family, together we stand and together we will be.

We Love You and will forever miss you until we meet again.

Connie, Jodi and Joey Lee

Joey is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie Beavers; daughter, Jodi Beavers; son, Joey Beavers and wife Jessica; grandsons, Colt Beavers, Jax Beavers, Abel Beavers; brother, Ronnie Beavers and wife Karen; numerous much loved family, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Timmy Nappier, Jacob Owens, Josh Eddy, Michael Bennett, Chris Parker, Kenneth Mays and Harold Glen Arrant.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Nolan, Tracy Crocker, Ronnie Marsh, Phil Gordon and Barry Benton.
