Funeral services for Linda Rambin, of Monroe, LA, will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe, at 2:00 on Wednesday, Aug.17, 2011 with Father Job Edathinatt officiating. Visitation will be held there as well from 5:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday, Aug.16, 2011. Linda was born September 20, 1940, and passed away on Saturday, August 13 after a lengthy and courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Tullos, Louisiana to Lottie and Erick Guilbeau, she and her brother Eric suffered the loss of their father in 1945 to a boating accident. She graduated from St. Matthews High School in 1958 where the title of best dancer was created for her. That same year she met her future husband, Bill, at a dance. After high school, she attended North Louisiana State College, earning a secretarial certificate. She and Bill then married in 1960. Linda worked as a retail manager at both On Stage Dancewear and Casual Corner at Pecanland Mall, from which she retired in 2003. However, she is best known for her work as a dancer, actress and artist, winning awards in each area. Forming their group travel company, Ramblin' Tours allowed Linda and Bill to share their love of travel and add to their ever-expanding circle of close friends. Linda's trademark humor, grace, and indomitable spirit served her well during her lengthy battle with brain cancer and inspired all who knew her. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Erick Joseph and Lottie Guilbeau; her stepfather, Clarence Engles; and her brother-in-law, Melvin Rambin. She is survived by her adoring, supportive husband of 51 years, William “Bill” Rambin; brother Eric Guilbeau and wife Judy; sister-in-law Julia Rambin; sons Craig Rambin and wife Liz, and Scott Rambin and wife Caroline; daughters Michele Gilmore and husband David, and Charlotte Rambin; grandchildren Megan, Sean, Eric, Christopher, Reagan, Sarah, and Owen; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Sam and Madeline; and six nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation for the many doctors, nurses, aides, therapists and hospice workers, who have sustained Linda during her ordeal, particularly her devoted sitter Ethel and to all those who followed her on Caring Bridge and sent her flowers, cards, letters and prayers.
