Funeral services for Rev. Charles Edwin Calk, age 83, of Rocky Branch, will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday July 11, 2011, at The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities. The services will be officiated by Pastor Mark Foster, along with family members, Reverend Joe Marvin Moore, Jan Calk Madden and grandsons, Reverend Christopher Calk and Nicholas Calk. Interment will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. Rev. Charles E. Calk, a retired United Pentecostal minister, was born December 3, 1927, in McClennan, TX and passed away July 6, 2011, in West Monroe. He will be best remembered by his strong faith in his God and his many years of service to the church. He was a minister of the UPCI and a member of its General Board of Directors. Rev. Calk served as pastor of churches in several states; was the Superintendent of Alabama, serving all churches throughout the state. He sat on the Texas District Board and served on the Board of Directors of the UPCI Tupelo Children's Mansion orphanage. Rev. Calk did not depend on his rank or position to define his self-worth. He had an unwavering commitment to the message and the ministry. Above all, Rev. Calk cherished the love and contentment in his home with his loving wife and family. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel E. Calk; and his son-in-law, David L. Skinner. Rev. Calk is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Betty Hardin Calk; one son, Mark E. Calk of Orange Beach, Alabama; one daughter, Elaine Calk Skinner Yates and husband Charles N. Yates, Jr. of Atlanta, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe.
