A Celebration of Life Service for Ronnie B. Suggs, age 68, of Bossier City, formerly of Ruston, will be held Monday, March 30, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Lisbon United Methodist Church in Lisbon. Brother Terry Willis will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Lisbon Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.Ronnie was born on December 11, 1946 in Lisbon and was called home to be with his Lord on March 29, 2015 following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his soul-mate, sweetheart, and wife of forty-eight years, Virginia Gin Scriber Suggs; daughter, Amy Hemmings of Bossier City; two grandchildren, Haley and Caleb Hemmings who adored their B; brother, Billy Ray Suggs and wife Charlotte of Lisbon; and many good friends and coworkers. Ronnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Sonya, and his parents, Reba and Ray Suggs.After graduation from Lisbon High School, Ronnie attended Northeast University, now known as University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he played basketball on a full scholarship. Through his outstanding career in education, he taught social studies, coached girls and boys basketball, and was an outstanding guidance counselor at Ruston High School for many years. He was Assistant Superintendent for the Lincoln Parish School Board until his retirement in 2003. Not finished helping high school students, he returned to counseling in Texas until 2012 when he became too ill to work.Ronnie was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend; therefore, he was well-loved by all who knew him. He was fun to be around, to work with, had a happy personality, great sense of humor, and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a person you could trust with any confidence, and his advice and guidance helped so many in so many ways. Those who knew Ronnie are thankful to have been given this wonderful person as part of their life. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering with his 1956 Chevy pickup truck, traveling, working with wood, assembling puzzles, and attending activities in which his grandchildren were involved.Pallbearers will be Cecil Barham, Danny Bell, Gerald Cobb, David Crowe, Tyrone Jordan, Randy Moore, Charles Owens, James Payton, Charles Scriber, Willie Washington, and Howard Whitlock.
