Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.Mrs. Houston was born September 19, 1921 in Collins, Mississippi and departed this life on February 26, 2015 in Duncanville, Texas. She was a long- time resident of Monroe/West Monroe, Louisiana. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was characterized by an intense love for her Lord and by prayer. Partnering with her husband, Rev. Willis Sellers in four pastorates, she served the Lord and the church faithfully and joyfully and knew well the meaning of sacrificial love both in the work of The Lord and in secular work. She worked as a nurse's aide in the emergency room at Conway Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. Her compassion for the sick and suffering showed in the way she tenderly cared for her patients. All who knew her loved her and knew they could depend on her love and prayers in their time of need. She taught Sunday School at Bethel Assembly of God for many years and the young people whom she taught still refer to the things she taught them and the positive influence she had on their lives. She will be lovingly remembered as Mom to her children, Mamaw to her grandchildren and Mamaw “V” to her great grandchildren. Although she has gone to her reward in heaven, her memory will linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis Sellers and by her son, Charles Sellers. Mrs. Houston is survived by three sons, Billy Frank Sellers and wife Dollie, of Monroe, La., David Sellers and wife, Norma of West Monroe, La., Don Sellers and wife, Ophelia of West Monroe, La, and one daughter, Carolyn Pilcher and husband, Darrell of Duncanville, TX, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
