Funeral services for Mrs. Vonice Howard, age 96, of Downsville, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA. Bro. Mike Reynolds will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Antioch Graveyard in Quitman, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.Mrs. Howard was born on February 3, 1919 and died on February 28, 2015. She attended Aulds Chapel Bible Church. Mrs. Howard is preceded in death by her husband Lavelle Howard.She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Clark of West Monroe, LA; sons, Jimmy Howard of Alexandria, LA and Ted Howard of Downsville, LA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.Memorials may be made to the Antioch Graveyard, c/o Jerry Hanes, 5104 Beech Springs Road, Quitman, LA 71268.Pallbearers will be Randall Howard, Mike Howard, Nick Howard, Don Shields, Lynn Treadway, and Dennis Howard.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com

Mrs. Howard was like a grandmother to me for many years. We moved close to her and were her neighbors for close to 10 years she taught me a lot and meant very much to me. I will never forget her and will always cherish my memories of her but she is back with her soul mate now. I love you and miss you Mrs. Howard forever and always. Heaven gained another angel!! I have never known Ms Vonice to say a bad word or not have a smile on her face. I have many fond memories of her and my years at Eureka school. (she knew how to stop my nose bleeds fast) We took her some white perch filets a few years ago and she fussed at us for cleaning them for her (she would have done it) LOL Sorry but I could go on for hours about this great lady! She will be missed!!
