Truitt, Jr. 88, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 14, 2008 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Rev. Mark Fenn will be officiating. Interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.Mr. Truitt was born September 18, 1919 in Lehighton, PA and passed away March 11, 2008, in West Monroe, LA. Albert Carpenter Truitt passed away on March 11, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Landmark Nursing Facility in West Monroe, and had previously lived in Monroe since 1968. Albert was known for his loving devotion to his family, particularly to his wife, Sybil, with whom he recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.Albert and his wife, Sybil, owned and operated Beltone Hearing Aid Center for more than 25 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe, and formerly Highland Park Baptist Church of Monroe. He was dedicated to Christian leadership and served faithfully as a member of the Gideons, Shriners, Optimist, Rotary Club, and Lions Club. He was a member of the Dee A. Strickland Masonic Lodge and also served as an officer in World War II.He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Dorris Lear Truitt, nine sisters and one brother.Survivors are his children, Donna McCormick and husband, Jim of Hagerstown, IN, Sharla Truitt of Hempstead, NC and Judy Shupe of Newport, NC; stepchildren, Jim Lear and wife, Laurie of West Monroe, Jack Lear and wife, Gerry of Mechanicsburg, IL, and Bernie Lear and wife, Alisa of Downsville, LA, Suzann Lear Boyett of Panama Beach, FL; grandchildren, Kelly Boyett Guillory, Mycal Boyett, Richard Boyett, Jennifer Boyett Burson, Bryant Lear, Diana Lear Rees, Adam Shupe, Tanya Bellott, Cliff Schweitzer, Cindy Gurtner, Sara Moore and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Mycal Boyett, Richard Boyett, Bryant Lear, John Burson, Jim Lear and Jim McCormick.Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2008 from 1:00 PM until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Donations may be made to The Shriners Children?s Hospital or Gideons International.
