Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara Estelle Brothers Bennett, 85, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Ridge Avenue Baptist Church in West Monroe. Dr. Jim Wolfe will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Barbara Estelle Brothers was born on September 20, 1932, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 18, 2017. She met her sweetheart at the young age of 16 while playing basketball for Farmerville High School. On April 23, 1952, she married James Sonny Bennett and they lived out a true love story. They raised four children and her family was her greatest accomplishment. She loved her God with all her heart, mind and soul and she instilled this love in all those she met. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler with her special friends The Happy Five. She enjoyed her garden and flowers and loved to share those beautiful flowers with those she loved. Her family will forever remember her delicious Sunday lunches and willingness to cater to all of their special requests.She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Tennie Pierce Brothers and sister Louise Brothers Curry.Survivors include her husband of 65 years, James Sonny Bennett; daughter, Judy Bennett Jenkins and long time significant other, Larry Evans; son, Johnny Buddy Ray Bennett and wife, Sloane; son, Bobby Wayne Bennett and wife, Lori; son, Sonny Layne Bennett and wife, Kathy; granddaughter, Lyndsay Jenkins Mixon and husband, Matt; grandson, Joseph Dustin Bennett; granddaughter, Melissa Jade Bennett; granddaughter, Sonni Michelle Bennett; great grandson, Anthony Bennett; great granddaughters, Kate LeighAnn Mixon, Klaire Estelle Mixon, Isabella Lyric Boyer, Amelie Claire Harris, Iris Anne Harris, Carlee Bennett and Elizah Thorton; bonus great grandchildren Kelcey Skye Cummins and Brason William Cummins; sister, Bonnie Tibbetts; brothers, Lonnie Brothers and William Brothers; her other daughter Annette Cummings Lockwood; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.Pallbearers will be Joe Bennett, Matthew Bennett Nolan, David Fowlkes, Andy Curry, Steve Johnston, William Brothers, Jr.Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor Dave Norris, West Monroe Board of Aldermen, Staci Albritton Mitchell, Alice Pearson, James Polk Brian and Thom Hamilton.Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nina Barkley, Dr. Scott Barron, the staff of 5th floor Telemetry at St. Francis Medical Center and the entire St. Francis Hospitalist group who has cared for her numerous times over the years.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com.
