Graveside services for Betsy Koontz Files will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. There will be a visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.Betsy Koontz Files was born and raised in Oil City, PA on May 29, 1929. She passed away peacefully on June 16, 2018. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe where she was an active member of the choir. Betsy had a special love of all animals, wildlife and birds. She never met a stray she would not take care of. Betsy loved playing bridge and enjoyed the many years of laughter and love that this group of ladies provided. They shared ups and downs and her specialty, tuna fish sandwiches. Although she became a southern girl, her Pennsylvania roots were always near and dear to her heart. Betsy attended The Knox School in Cooperstown, NY and Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA. She was married to her husband, Jack, for 56 years. They loved living in Monroe where they shared a long and happy life together raising their children. They cherished beach trips with their family and travels all over the world with precious friends. Betsy loved her family with passion and generosity. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her as a loving, giving, and spirited advocate of everything in their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Files, her son, Forrest Files, and her parents Forrest and Josephine Koontz.Betsy is survived by her sister Kathryn Koontz, her children, Karol Files Fontaine, Lisa Files Town (Chris), Leslie Files Jenkins (Lee). Her grandchildren, Ryan Hood (Brooke), Courtney Hood Laws (Corey), Margo Town Mathews (Michael), Lindsey Town Hardy (Elliot), Forrest Town, Will Jenkins, Christopher Jenkins (Michelle) and her great grandchildren, Jackson Hood, Reagan Hood, Garrett Mathews, Marin Mathews, McCall Hardy and Weston Hardy.The family would like to thank Tricia Crosby and Jacqueline Bickham of TLC Home Companion Care, Lauren Cranford of Pinnacle Hospice, Dr. Vincent Tumminello and Dr. Chuck Morgan for taking loving care of Betsy.Memorial donations may be made to the Crohn and Colitis Foundation P.O.
