Funeral services for Blondell Gail Hillis Powell will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Liberty Baptist Church, Calhoun. Rev. Tony Smith and Rev. John Hillis will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.Gail was born July 22, 1947 in Start, LA and passed away on March 10, 2018 in Calhoun, LA. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, a unit secretary at St. Francis Medical Center and most of all, a Mother and a Nanny. Gail is preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Powell; parents, George and Mary Hillis; sister, Terrie Blakely.Gail is survived by her sister, Dianne Hillis Robertson and husband Mike; daughters, Marcia Lee and husband Harold, Rosemary Powell, Connie Shivers; son, Daniel Powell and wife Kashea; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Powell and wife Crystal, Maegen Tanner, Makayla Metzger, Hunter Powell, Destiny Lee, Justin Shivers, Fisher Powell, and Emily Lee; great-grandchildren, Bently Powell, Maddox Powell, Aryanna Tanner, Aislynn Tanner and many nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Waylon Powell, Jacob Powell, Terri Collie, Terry Shivers, Jerry Hillis, and Lamar Hillis. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Barkley.Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Powell family. Growing up on the corner of US Hwy 80 and Brownlee Rd (directly across from Powell's Store), we were all "extended" family ... So many great memories ... Gail will now be reunited with Bob and other family and friends in Heaven.

I will always remember Mrs. Gail as a special lady who always had a sweet smile on her face. My grandkids, especially Olivia, and the rest of us, thought the world of her and loved her so much. If Mrs. Gail wasn't at church, Olivia was finding out "why" from somebody. She will be greatly missed.
