Known as Mamaw to her 32 grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mrs. Bobbie Tisdale blessed everyone she met. Complications from a stroke early on the morning of Tuesday, January 16, 2024 ended the remarkable life of our beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Bobbie Tisdale, 86, of West Monroe, LA. She died peacefully at Glenwood Hospital surrounded by family. She was blessed with exceptional mental and physical health until the very end, even spending her last weekend preparing lunch for her extended family and attending her great grandson’s basketball game.
Bobbie Nell Sawyer was born to Jewel Edward Sawyer and Willie Lee Sawyer of Union Parish on August 23, 1937. She married her husband, James Tisdale, on August 21, 1958 and together they raised four children. She graduated from NLU with a degree in education.
Bobbie was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher, school teacher, and Director of Fair Park Baptist Church Daycare. But her most important roles were being a mom, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and neighbor to everyone.
She absolutely adored her family, especially her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. They all have fond memories of spending summers at “Mamaw’s” house. They had so much fun together, learning how to enjoy the outdoors, bonding, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
Bobbie was also a devout Christian and an active member of Highland Baptist Church. She made sure that her grandkids and great grandkids attended Vacation Bible School there, passing on her love for the Lord.
Anyone who knew Bobbie would describe her as the most loving, giving, and forgiving person they’ve ever met. Her family feels so lucky to have had her as their mom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tisdale, her father, Jewel Sawyer, mother, Willie Lee Sawyer, sister, Billie Butler, and is survived by her brother, Edward Sawyer, four children: Debbie White (Wade), Ken Tisdale (Robyn), Kaye Robinson (John) and Rhonda Tisdale; 11 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
