Bobette Golden Banks, 70, of Ruston, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017,in peace surrounded by her family. Bobette was born and raised in Downsville, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University. She was a longtime teacher who taught at Choudrant Elementary School for 33 years. Bobette cared very much for her students and continued to tutor after retirement. Above all, Bobette had a great love for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife to Larry Banks for 48 years. Her life centered around her children and grandchildren. She loved nothing more than to do arts and crafts with her granddaughter, bake with the kids and read to her grandbabies. She was also an active member of the community. She was a member of the knitting club, garden club, and reading book club. She was a volunteer at the local hospital gift shop. She always looked for ways to serve others, and was happy to lend an ear, offers prayers, and bring food where needed. She was truly a loyal, faithful friend who cared deeply for people and touched many lives. She was a rare gem and will be deeply missed. Bobette was a member of First Baptist Church Ruston, and a faithful servant of the Lord. She was active in her Sunday school class and dedicated to growing her faith. One of her last pieces of advice to her children was, in all circumstances, turn to the Lord.Bobette is survived by her husband, Larry, and two children, Judson Banks and wife Gina Banks, and daughter, Kate Banks. She is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren, Campbell, Reid & Garrett Banks. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Judson Golden and Lallage Sizemore Golden. Bobette was deeply grateful to everyone who gave their love and support during the last two years. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 at First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 24, 2017, with the funeral services beginning at 2:30. Burial will be immediately following at the Downsville Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.Pallbearers are Joel Banks, John Banks, Kane Banks, Kerry Banks, Kevin Banks, Milton Banks, and Stephen Banks.
