Buddy Brown, 76, of Columbia, LA will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, 2:00 PM in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, with Pastor Shane Warren officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Buddy was born on December 31, 1940 in Hebert, LA and on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, surrounded by his family, he ran into the healing arms of Jesus, where he was also met by his parents, Carl. C. Brown, Sr. and Opal Brown Lofton; his son, James Allen Brown; sister, Betty Brown Bailes; father-in-law, William Buster Diel; mother-in-law, Mae Diel; sister-in-law, Bonnie Diel Frith; and brother-in-law, Carl Ray McLemore.Buddy is survived by his loving, devoted, and caring wife of 35 years, Helen Diel Brown; sons, Freddie Brown and wife Donna of Downsville, LA, Paul Brown and wife Melissa of Pineville, LA, Tony Brown, Patrick Brown and wife Kendra of Downsville, LA; daughters, Jackie Brown Jarrett of Calhoun, LA, and Michelle Brown Smith and husband Carlos of Gilbert, LA; 15 grandchildren, Chelsea Brown, Eric Bryan, Jeffrey Brown, Abigail Brown, Nathan Brown, Mathew Guree, Brandy Brown, Devon Brown, Jessica Jarrett Martin and husband Tommy, Amanda Jarrett Milstead and husband Blake, Brittaney Elmore Brewster and husband Jonathan, Natalie Elmore, Thomas Brown, Kaitlyn Brown, and Olivia Caples; and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia McLemore of Monroe, LA, and Debbie Frost and husband Paul of West Monroe, LA; brothers-in-law, Jerry Diel of Calhoun, LA, James Diel and wife Nanette of Calhoun, LA and John Frith of West Monroe; sisters-in-law, Irene Diel Steed and husband Robert of West Monroe, LA and Ann Diel Hays and husband Tommy of Eros, LA; his special uncle, Otis Brown of Columbia, LA; his furry little companion, Nyla; and by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.Buddy was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He returned home to find lifelong employment in the sheet metal industry. He coached baseball for the West Monroe Dixie Youth during the 1970. During the winter you would find him at the deer camp and the summers he would be on the lake fishing. He loved his entire extended family, enjoyed frying fish, and gardening. He was the rock and foundation of our family; a hole is now left that can never be filled.Pallbearers honoring his memory will be nephews, Jay Bailes, Jeff Bailes, Dustin Frost, Brad Frost, Herbert Bedgood, Chris Diel, Scott Diel and Larry McLemore.Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jeffrey Brown, Nathan Brown, Eric Bryan, Thomas Brown, and Mathew Guree; great-grandsons, Trevor Elmore, Layne Martin, and Donnie Bryan; and nephews Eric and Mark Steed.The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
