Charlie was our pastor at Church of the Servant in Mandeville. He was a wonderful person and he really helped many people including myself. He was an approachable minister, never mercurial like some can be. Saddened to hear the news. I ‘ll always have good memories of him, Jan and the girls. Very smart man with a good heart.

Charlie was a welcome addition to our First Methodist Church of West Monroe family. He always offered insightful commentaries during Bible studies or just general conversations. We are going to miss him.

I was speechless when I saw Kate’s post on Thursday. I immediately called my brother on his ride home from work and relayed the information on to him, he was just as shocked as I was. Brother Charlie was my first pastor, at Squires UMC, he baptized me almost 27 years ago. He prayed earnestly for me when I left that little church to seek employment in west Texas. He officiated the service for my nephew when Ryan tragically died. He had been an integral part of my sister’s family, as well as many others, in Ragley. He brightened my day just seeing that smile. When we informed him of the passing of Ryan’s mother, my sister, he was beyond words and overcome with emotion. You could witness his tender heart on any given day. Rest in peace dear brother, we’ll see each other at the final supper table.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

My heart hurts upon getting this news. Such heavy news. Charlie was my pastor when we lived in Kinder. When my son had a life threatening illness, I remember that he rode with me to Children's Hospital in New Orleans and stood with my family in prayer, sacrificing his time. His sermons were always so well-researched and interesting! He challenged us to live for Christ! I still remember how he taught us that the word BELIEVE in the Bible is the Greek word pisteuo which means to entrust, rely on and it is more than just mental assent. He and his beautiful family lived right across from the grocery store that I managed. He would walk over and sit with me in a swing under a big oak tree and he would read a chapter of "Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis to me. Then we would pray together. He was so intelligent, so thoughtful, so giving! I'm not the only one who felt this way. My whole family did and so did everyone in the community. I missed him dearly when the Methodist Church moved him to another pastorate. When Katie was injured we kept up to date from the CaringBridge posts and prayed and prayed for her healing. Over the passage of time and years, we had lost touch, but almost a year ago, Charlie presided over the funeral of a family member in Welsh. We were able to sit and visit for a long time. It was SO good to see him and reconnect. His familiar smile and kindness and big heart were so good to see. I'm so very sorry. I've been so sad all day since my wife saw Kate's posting of Charlie's passing and told me. I wish all the family members peace and our deepest condolences. Charlie lived a life that made such an impact on my life. Charlie loved the Lord Jesus and loved studying His Word. I'm lifting up the family in my prayers right now! Thank you Lord, for Charlie! I'll never forget what he meant to our family.

I am so very sorry for your family’s loss, but I know Charlie is rejoicing in Heaven! We really enjoyed having him in our Sunday School class at First Methodist West Monroe! He brought such great insight and depth into our discussions of historical events during, before, and after Jesus’s time on earth. Charlie will be missed!
