It is with great sadness in announcing the passing of our father, Charles E. ‘Chuck’ Goatley, who went to his heavenly Father on October 13, 2024, surrounded by his family, Eddie (Dianne) Goatley, and close friends, Edward Carter, Chad Carter, Dennis Garsee, and Dawn Garsee.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 18, 2024, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, Louisiana.
Funeral services for Charles E. “Chuck” Goatley, 87, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Paschal Catholic Church, West Monroe, Louisiana. Father Michael Thang’wa will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paschal Cemetery, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe.
Born on May 31, 1937, in Graves County, Mayfield, KY, Charles graduated from Fancy Farm School and served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy. Afterwards, he met his beautiful wife, Catherine C. Downs of Shelbyville, KY, and they married in May 1961. He spent an eventful career working for Wicke’s Lumber Company, moving across the US until finally settling in the West Monroe, LA. area. Charles was a devoted Catholic, member of St. Paschal Catholic Church, West Monroe, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Cathy); his daughter, Cindy Bailey of West Monroe; parents, Frances Earl (Mary Hayden) Goatley, Mayfield, KY.; sister Francis Loretta Ruggeri, Tulsa, OK.; two brothers, Joseph H. and Lawrence H Goatley, Mayfield, KY.
Charles is also survived by his son Eddie (Dianne) Goatley; grandchildren, Chris (Betty Jo) Goatley, Stefanie (Allen) Sant, Stacy Goatley, Brandy Goatley; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters; Ruby (Larry) Ziegler, Gurley, AL, and Martha (Gary) Moore, Lady of Lake, FL.; and their numerous children, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Allen Sant, Chris Goatley, Hunter Sant, Chad Carter, Dennis Garsee, and Todd Zeigler.
