Charles Joseph LeDoux, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2024, in his home surrounded by loved ones. Joe was born on May 28th, 1935, in Monroe, Louisiana to Saralee and Charlie LeDoux. A lifelong resident of Monroe, he graduated Neville High School in 1953 and Louisiana Tech in 1957.
He was a member of the Naval Reserve for eight years during high school and college, and enjoyed boxing and intramural sports at Tech. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, he started his construction firm developing Town & Country Subdivision, North Side Terrace, and Deborah Drive Subdivision. In his later years, his business endeavors didn’t end, and he launched numerous storage unit establishments. His businesses would have never had the success and fluidity without his office manager of 43 years, Judy Demers, who he loved like a daughter and spoke of with high praise and adoration.
He played as hard as he worked, spending weekends with his young family, the Brockmans, the Rivers, and the Sherrouses at his beloved Lake D’arbonne camp. From dock days spent water skiing and fishing to evenings dancing to songs on the best jukebox ever, his children lived out their happiest childhood memories thanks to him.
He was preceded in death by Ann West LeDoux, his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 67 years. They were the epitome of true love and are now joyfully reunited. Some of their happiest memories were made fishing in Cocodrie, hunting in Paradise, and sitting on their back porch on Country Club Road watching the orioles feed on grape jelly and the egrets dive for fish in the bayou.
As a Louisiana native, Joe was proud of his great southern heritage, having had two great-grandfathers serve in the Civil War and one great-grandfather as Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Joe was an active member in the community, serving on the Northeast Louisiana Homebuilders Association, the Louisiana Self Storage Association, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and as a Charter Member of River Oaks School. He was also a dedicated affiliate of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church and a life-long devout Catholic.
He is survived by his three children, Kathy VanVeckhoven and her husband John, Karen Stinson and her husband Paul, and Joby LeDoux and his wife Leslie. Joe was known as “Skee” to his seven grandchildren, Ledoux (and Gisela) Van Veckhoven, Patton (and Katie) VanVeckhoven, Walker Stinson, Annie Stinson, Charlie (and Kaela) LeDoux, Jack LeDoux, and Emily LeDoux, and his three great-grandchildren, Paloma, Vivi, and Riley, with two more great-grandchildren on the way. He was a wonderful older brother to Bill and Jim LeDoux, and the fun uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Joe and his family would like to thank those who tirelessly cared for him during his final weeks, including Jwandelyn Williams, Jimicia Williams, Mable Moore, Vanessa Williams, Elizzian Williams, Deerika Lewis, Maunicia Corprue, Xannadu Harvey, Peronica York and his number one star, Kim Williams. We would also like to extend immense gratitude to his wonderful providers Tiffany Terra and Dr. Larry Danna for their incredible support and medical care. We could not have made it through the difficult days without our family, Jan and Ralph Brockman and Diane McGowan.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church in Monroe. Pallbearers will be Tommy Jackson, Wes Brockman, Carl Sevin, Jerry Arrant, and Pete Dispenza. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Brockman, Jerry Ryan, Jack Rivers, Barry Primos, Dr. Larry Danna, Dr. Mike Cage, Dr. Mike Zambie, Joe Holyfield, and James Moore Jr. Joe will be entombed at Mulhearn Memorial Park and laid to rest in the chapel mausoleum next to his beloved wife.
Memorials in Joe’s memory may be made to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church or St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy.
Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe.

Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand
Take my whole life, too
For I can’t help falling in love with you
