A celebration of life for Charles Rodney Ramsey will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 10, 2018 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Dr. Mark Fenn will officiate and interment will follow at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.After a lengthy battle with colon cancer, Charles Rodney Ramsey lost his fight on September 7, 2018. Born on July 26, 1954, to Clyde and Alexandria Ward Ramsey, he was the youngest of 4 children. He attended Drew Elementary, West Monroe Jr. High, West Monroe High School, and Diesel Training School. He was a diesel mechanic and parts manager for over 35 years in Monroe/West Monroe.Charles had a great love of fishing and boating. He built his own houseboat, Cheap-N-Easy and loved riding on the Ouachita River. He traveled by cruise to the Bahamas, Mexico, and Alaska, seeing oceans and travel by camper finding lakes and waterfalls. Charles was a member of the Ouachita Sail and Power Squadron for over 28 years and he also taught boating safety classes.Charles attended church at First Baptist Church, West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Alexandria Ramsey; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Eunice Ramsey; great-nephew, Trey Foster III, father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Dorothy Langston.Charles is survived by his wife of 27 years, Charlotte Langston Ramsey; son, Robert Alexander Ramsey; brother Donald Ramsey (Linda); sister, Lynda Gebhardt (Mike); brother-in-law, Kevin Langston (Lindsay); sisters-in-law, Renee Calongne (John), Beverly Koob (Karl); many nieces, nephews, friends and his special boating buddy, Loki.Pallbearers will be Karl Koob, Kevin Langston, John Calongne, Tim Langston, Jack Skeen and Phillip Elmore. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Ouachita Sail and Power Squadron.In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made in memory of Charles to the Ouachita Sail and Power Squadron, 3901 Forsythe Avenue, Monroe, LA 71201, First West, Louisiana Baptist Children Home or a charity of your choice.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Glenwood Medical Center and Louisiana Oncology.
