Funeral services for Cheryl Saxon Hood, 71, of Ruston, LA will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston.  Rev. Jason Beard will officiate the service.  Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Simsboro, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 209 North Bonner, Ruston, Louisiana, on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Cheryl passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Ruston.  She was born in Monroe, Louisiana, and was one of nine children.  Cheryl married the love of her life F. Malcolm Hood, Jr. and was immediately blessed with two beautiful stepdaughters.  They had two lovely daughters, living life for a short stint in Texas and throughout the great state of Louisiana which they considered to be their forever home.  People always told their “Cheryl” stories bespeaking her spunk, wittiness, but most importantly her kindness.  She had a great capacity of love for people in all walks of life and was a friend to all.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, F. Malcolm Hood, Jr.; her parents, Elinor Rebecca Harden and Cleve Harold (Jack) Saxon; her sister, Judy Knowles; and stepdaughter, Melissa Hood.

She is survived by daughters, Alissa Hood; Celeste Hood Cheramie and husband Kurt; stepdaughters, Susan Hood Carter; Amy Hood LaCour and husband Monty;  her surviving sisters, Linda Halley, Mildred Frost, Jackie Perritt, Mary Butler, and Vicki Cummings; her brothers, Cleve Harold Saxon, Jr. and Robert Clayton Saxon; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ken Calhoun, Kurt Cheramie, Guy Halley, Jed Hood, Malcolm Hood, and Monty LaCour.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for charitable donations to be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
