Clara Beatrice Hooper Campbell, age 86, formerly of Dubach, Louisiana has been welcomed to her heavenly home with the Lord. Clara was born March 9, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Lennillard Hooper and Annie Morris Hooper. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana upon graduation for work. She met and married Roland Campbell and together they lived in Shreveport before relocating briefly to Clarence, Louisiana, finally settling their permanent residence in the Ruston/Dubach area. Clara has been an asset the Ruston/Dubach community by working at Medic Pharmacy, Ruston, La for many years and being a bank teller for many years at Central Bank of Ruston and First Guaranty Bank of Dubach.
She and Roland were devout members of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 17 years and after moving closer to Dubach, became lifelong members of First Baptist Church of Dubach. Clara had four beautiful children Laura, Alan, Bruce, and Lisa whom she loved dearly and went on to pass her love to 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Clara enjoyed traveling and was an avid “weekend trip warrior”. She loved playing dominoes, particularly 42, with whoever was brave enough to embrace her competitive side. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life like gardening, rocking on the front porch, and a strong cup of black coffee. She is well known for her loving nature and kindness. She was known to all in her community and church family as a true friend. Clara was a martyr, known to always root for the underdog, and was able to show the love of the Lord in her daily life and actions. Her family will always be reminded of her gentleness and accepting love.
She is preceded in death by childhood siblings and her soul mate of 63 years, Roland Campbell. She is survived by her cousin Myrt and uncle Eddie; daughter: Laura and husband Bill, 3 grandchildren: Jason, Katie, and Matthew; son: Alan and wife Marta Campbell, 3 grandchildren: Philip, Jared, and Sean; son: Bruce and wife Nicole, 4 grandchildren: Cory, Lucas, Hannah, and Caitlin; and daughter: Lisa and husband Mark, 5 grandchildren: Valerie, Magan, Brad, Courtney, and Allison, and amongst them: numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Dubach, Louisiana. Brother Barry Joyner to officiate. Interment will take place at Colvin Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church.
