Funeral Services for D. M. Kennedy, Sr. will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 19, 2018, at Highland Baptist Church, West Monroe, LA., with the Rev. Skip Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service.D.M. was born on February 7, 1921 in Dodson, LA and passed away on February 16, 2018 in West Monroe, LA. He was the 6th of 9 children born to Daniel Middleton and Francis Viola Belle Darnell Kennedy. D. M. was the senior member of the American National Red Cross Life Saving Service at the C.C.C. Camp in Bassett, VA in 1937. After enlisting in the U.S. Army at Camp Livingston on July 15, 1942, he served in WWII as a Military Policeman. D.M. was a member of Highland Baptist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir as often as he could. Some of his favorite pastimes were traveling and square dancing. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 63 years, Lena Belle Kennedy; his daughter, Nell Anne Hattaway; and his 8 siblings.D.M. is survived by his son, D.M. Kennedy, Jr. and wife Pam; son-in-law, Robert Hattaway and wife Sue; two grandchildren, Melissa Eads and husband James, Kevin Kennedy and wife Rachele; great-grandchildren, Rachel Eads Bonner and husband, Ethan, Kaitlyn Eads, Daniel Kennedy, Michael Kennedy; and great-great grandson, Abbott Bonner.
