It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Lavelle Wade, age 74, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. David departed from this world on February 13, 2024, at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana, after bravely facing a long illness.
Born on October 11, 1949, David was a native of Farmerville, LA. He proudly served his country in the Navy, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his service.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie Loper Wade and James S. Wade. He is survived by his devoted wife, Claudia Beatriz Wade, who shared countless cherished moments by his side. David’s memory will forever be cherished by his brothers, Dr. James Wade (wife Beryl) of Lafayette and Philip Wade (wife Carol) of Bossier City.
David’s legacy lives on through his loving children: Laura Hidalgo, Jorge Hidalgo, Lauren Wade, Taylor Wade, and Adam Wade. Additionally, he leaves behind nieces and nephews who adored him dearly: Meredith Thibodeaux (husband Jared), Mark Wade (wife Katie), JP Wade, Regan Elizabeth Peatross (husband Jarred), Allyson Merie Wade, Collin Catherine Mumtac (husband Kash), and two granddaughters, Taylor Brewer and Freya Wade.
David’s journey was one of courage, resilience, and unwavering faith. His unwavering spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark of kindness and compassion. He was not only a partner but a best friend and rock to those he held dear.
Special thanks go to his great friend and caregiver, Carrie Perry, for her exceptional care and companionship during the last five months of his life. Additionally, heartfelt gratitude is extended to Phyllis Johnson and Jody Loyd for their devoted care, enjoying his company and conversation. David, being a very social person, found immense joy in their presence.
Honorary pallbearers and dearest friends of David include Don Byrnes, Aubrey Gates, Jason Cohenour, Frank Thompson, and Kerry Hill.
As we mourn David’s departure from this earthly realm, we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, free from pain, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, his laughter, wisdom, and gentle soul will forever echo in our hearts.
To all friends and family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness helps to lighten the burden of our grief as we honor David’s memory and the incredible legacy of love and generosity he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, dearest David. Your light will forever shine bright in our hearts, guiding us through life’s journey with the warmth of your love.
A combined Memorial Service for David Lavelle Wade will be held at the First Baptist Church of Farmerville, officiated by Brother Kurt Auger, and Rev. Al Jost of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The service will take place on Thursday, February 22, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM followed by the service at 2:00 PM under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Farmerville, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Farmerville, or Union General Foundation.
