Don Keith Hereford was born September 12, 1934 in Jackson County, Missouri and passed away on January 22, 2022 in Tyler, Texas. He was a native of Kansas City, Missouri and made his home in Monroe, Louisiana since 1976.
Don’s working experiences included being the Engineering Manager at IMC and Koch Nitrogen. Throughout his career he was involved in marine, nuclear, and chemical plant activities; he was also a licensed professional engineer and licensed marine engineer. Don received a BS from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a MSME from Virginia Tech. He was a naval reserve officer.
Don was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and involved in volunteer activities including the AARP tax program. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts, tennis, snow skiing, Commodores, Shriners, Masons, and Sons of the American Revolution. He also enjoyed traveling and dancing with his beloved Marieanne.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Hereford; parents, Keith and Dorothy Hereford; sister, Joyce Hereford; granddaughter, Kaitlin Hereford.
Survivors include his children, Dan Hereford and wife, Nannette of Louisiville, Kentucky, Michael Hereford and wife, Trenka of Pinehurst, Texas, Katherine Means and husband Stuart of Whitehouse, Texas; grandchildren, Keith Hereford, Brianna Hereford Webster and husband Curtis, Seth Hereford, Sydney Hereford, Nicolas Means, Samantha Means, and Dustin Means; great-grandchildren, Grace, Lucy, and Baylee; brother, G. Brock Hereford of Sedona, Arizona; sisters, Nancy Hereford Shaddox of Gladstone, Missouri, Donna Hammil of Stockton, California, and Sandra Dezahd of Costa Mesa, California; many nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.
Don was cremated in accordance with his wishes. His Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe, Louisiana 71201.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Graceminster Presbyterian Church, the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or a charity of your choice.
