Kilpatrick Funeral Home Farmerville, LA. Dovie Brantley Funeral services for Mrs. Dovie Brantley, 96 of Downsville, LA., will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 3:30 P.M. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville, LA. Officiating at the services will be Rev. Bobby Jackson under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mrs. Brantley is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Brantley, daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and J.W. Littleton and her brothers: Jeff Carter, S.T. Carter, Dorwood “Nub” Carter, Bunny Carter and Cecil Carter. She is survived by her son Duie Brantley and his wife Marlies of Williamsburg, Virginia. Three granddaughters: Linda Robinson and husband Don of Hampton, Virginia; Lynnora Henley of Haverhill, Massachusetts; and Cam Nolan and husband Ricky of Downsville. Four great grandchildren: Christopher Robinson and wife Jennifer of Hampton, Virginia; Jacob Hearold of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Sara Dickerson and husband Colby of Downsville, and Luke Nolan of Downsville. Two great-great-grandchildren: Trenton Hearold of Downsville, and Kristina Robinson of Hampton, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dovie was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville. She loved working in the church's Prayer Garden and on many occasions provided the flower arrangements for Sunday's services from her own flower garden. She was a great cook and her neighbors and family all have fond memories of going to “Aunt” Dovie's house for Sunday dinner. At church gatherings her little fried pies were always a big hit and many folks would ask her to make dumplings for them. She lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed by her family, but we know she has gone on to be with her Lord. We know she is now at peace.
