Dr. James Arnold Moncrief, 81, of Ruston, LA passed away on May 6, 2017. James was born on August 29, 1935 in Ruston, Louisiana to Norman Leon and Edna Ruth Redwine Moncrief. He graduated from Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University. He received his MD from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He did a year of internship at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport and then a Pediatric Residency and a Neurology Fellowship at Children Hospital in Washington, DC. James was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force during the early years of the Vietnam War. In July of 1966, James joined Green Clinic, where he practiced Pediatrics for 35 years and served as Medical Director for 19 years.James enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing, and photography. James community services included: President of Ruston-Lincoln Parish Chamber of Commerce, 1973; Co-chairman with Jack Ritchie for fund drive to restore and renovate the Kidd-Davis house donated by Mary Olive Davis Green and Charlotte Davis Parrot to the Lincoln Parish Museum; and Co chairman with Pam Love for the 1984 Ruston Centennial.Dr. James Moncrief is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan McDougal Moncrief; his son, Scott, and wife Debby, and their daughter, Taylor, of Galveston, TX; his son, Todd, and wife, Jacque, of Springdale, AR; and daughter, Heather, and husband, Charles Hanley, and their daughters, Larkin and Clementine of Albuquerque, NM.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
