Elaine Anderson Hobgood, formally of Monroe, LA, went to be with Jesus on December 1, 2019. She lived a long and blessed life for 93 years. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt and Opal Anderson, her devoted husband of 61 years, C. H. Buck Hobgood, her beloved brother, Odell Anderson and wife Audrey, and a son-in-law John Campbell; sister – in – law, Dorothy Anderson.She is survived by four daughters, Linda Wilson, Sandra Campbell, Karen Johnson (John) and Gwen Lawson (Randy); three brothers, Robert Anderson, Delbert Anderson (Love) and Tom Anderson (Mary). Also surviving are grandchildren Bobby Loyd, Bill Loyd (Cheryl), Emily Smith Sasser, Scott Smith (Gabrielle), Jeff Laughlin (Anna), Kara Smith (James), Lauren Lawson, Chad Lawson and Hunter Lawson. She also has nine great-grandchildren, Michael, Sarah and David Loyd; Charlie, Garnes and Helena Laughlin; Josiah Smith; Nora and Finley Smith.Elaine held a deep love for God, her family and her church family. The testimony she leaves behind and the many lives she touched was an example for all of us to follow Jesus; what a legacy she has given to us and so many others. She served her church in many ways including playing the piano for over fifty years, directing the youth choir, teaching Sunday school classes and summer programs. Elaine passed on a love of music to all of her family. Family gatherings always included singing around the piano while she played. She was a prayer warrior who could often be found kneeling at her bed and reading her Bible in her chair and will be remembered as a wonderful servant of Jesus, a devoted wife and mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.A celebration of Elaine life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 11:00 AM atHouse of Prayer International, Monroe, Louisiana. The burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitors will be received from 9:30 AM to the time of service with Dr. Marty Baker and Rev. Ron Brown officiating.The pallbearers will be her grandsons Bobby Loyd, Bill Loyd, Jeff Laughlin, Scott Smith, Chad Lawson, and Hunter Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Lawson and John Johnson.
