Eleanor M. Thibodeaux Kennedy, age 87, formerly of Cameron Parish and a resident of Farmerville, LA for the last 51 years, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 in St. Francis Medical Center following a brief illness. Her services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 10 AM in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Farmerville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 5 – 7 PM at the funeral home.
Eleanor was born on March 28, 1935 in Grand Cheniere, LA where she lived until moving to Sulphur, LA. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School. In 1953 she married Jimmy Gale Kennedy (“her” handsome) and the love of her life. After her marriage, she traveled the world with her husband and children as a military wife. Once retiring, she moved to and settled in Farmerville, LA. She was an only child and spoke Cajun French until she learned English in high school. Eleanor will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor and feisty nature. She was fiercely loyal and dedicated to her family. She will be missed and loved by her family and friends. Eleanor was a member of Our Lady of Lasallette Catholic Church in Sulphur, LA and Our Lady of Perpeptual Help in Farmerville, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Gale Kennedy and her parents, Odea and Olive Thibodeaux.
She is survived by her children: Karen Kennedy Griffith; Jamie Anderson (Irvin); and Joey Kennedy all of Farmerville, LA; 6 grandchildren: Kayne Anderson Ates (Jason) of Lake Charles, LA; Jason Anderson (Anne Marie) of Farmerville, LA; Cara Anderson Riley (Jerry) of Farmerville, LA; Chere’ Kennedy of Farmerville, LA; David Faust; and Tiffany Griffith both of Sulphur, LA; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She is also survived by one fur-baby, Maddie.
Pallbearers will be Jason Anderson, Jerry Riley, Noah Riley, Alexander Kelly, Tracy Kennedy, Isaac Anderson, and Kenny Kennedy.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Faust, Jason Ates, and Silas Anderson.
