Funeral services for James “J.W.” Lowrey, 67, of Sterlington will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 3, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Sterlington with Bro. J. E. Brown and Bro. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Lowrey was born on December 24, 1943 in Columbia, LA and passed away on August 30, 2011 in Sterlington, LA. He was retired from Graphic Packaging, Plant 70. He served with the U. S. Army Reserve. He was ordained as deacon at New Light Baptist Church and continued to serve at First Baptist Church of Sterlington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and serving in his church and community. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: L. W. and Eunice Lowrey; two brothers: W. J. “Pete” Lowrey and Jacob “Jake” Lowrey; and one sister: Wanda Voncile Adams. Mr. Lowrey is survived by his wife of 45 years: Maurine Braddock Lowrey; children: Pam Lowrey Waldrop and husband, Micheal and Kevin D. Lowrey and wife, Gayle; grandchildren: Chase and Hunter Sullivan, Jacob and James Micheal Lowrey, and Trey and Drake Waldrop; sister: Patsy Lowrey McGinty and husband, David; 7 brothers and sisters-in-law: Elaine Simons, Berl Braddock, Lawrence Ray Braddock, Marjorie Cain, Jean Crain, Benny Braddock, and Mark Braddock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Deacons of First Baptist Church of Sterlington will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Sterlington – Building Fund, P. O. Box 725, Sterlington, LA 71280. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, September 2, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.
