My sincere condolences to the Burnley family. I just heard of Kemal's passing. I met Kemal at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. I will always remember his wild curly hair and wire rimmed glasses, looking like my favorite Beatle, John Lennon. He was brilliant, creative, sweet and a truly good person. He lived in Berkeley, in a converted garage, and drove a beater that had been broken into so often that when it was parked, he left it unlocked, its windows and glove compartment open to show it had nothing left to steal. Kemal would come back from work with scratches and bruises from troubled kids he cared for, but he always spoke of them lovingly. Kemal met me before I became a mom, and was there to see my daughter running around in her tutu and cowboy boots. I treasure the wonderful memories - he will forever be that quirky wild haired 26 year old in my mind.

I met Kemal by shopping frequently at Fiesta for several years. It is a small world because my brother knows him also. Kemal worked at Kincaid's years ago and my brother was a customer. I am so happy I got a chance to meet Kemal! I am really going to miss his presence and his smile while asking me if I wanted a magazine. RIP Kemal
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Kemal, You were such a bright shining light!!! You ALWAYS had a smile to share and ALWAYS put a smile on my face!!! I enjoyed working with you at Rons and was so happy to see you when you would stop by for visits after you left. I pray comfort for your family and pray that the Lord will hold your lovely Patricia tight in His loving arms. I was SUPER EXCITED for the two of you when you got married. Rest now my friend. I knew Kemal in the late 1990s, but lost touch over the years. He always deserved better back then, and he found better.

My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Kemal was in my little brother's class at Neville, and they were friends. I remember him from when we all used to run around at the YMCA. My friends and I would be trying to catch Kevin's eye, and Kemal and my brother Wes and Glenn Briley would be running around teasing us and acting like young boys do. In recent years, Kemal friended me on Facebook and I got to learn more about him as an adult. What a wonderful, kind, caring person he became! It seems he always saw the bright side of life and the best side of those around him. It was a privilege to get to know him just a little bit. I don't know what happened, but I am so sad to know that his light has gone from our world. I pray that you all can hold the treasure of his spirit close while you go through the tough days ahead.
