Kenneth Edward Riggin was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Choudrant, Louisiana. He passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends after a 3 year battle with cancer.Ken was born on August 25, 1947 in Monroe, LA. He graduated from West Monroe High School in 1965 and followed by NLU in the years after. After college he began working at LP&L and later transferred to Luling, Louisiana where he worked in various positions with Entergy. While living in south Louisiana he was involved with Youth Recreation Sports Booster Club and RSVP. In 2001 the family moved to Choudrant, Louisiana where he continued his love of catering for various weddings, tailgates and other functions. He was an avid outdoors man belonging to 3 different hunting clubs. Ken had a strong passion for Louisiana Tech University. His son, Christopher, and daughter, Ashley, attend the university. He and his wife Cathy became involved with their Fraternity and Sorority and were known to be the mom and dad of all the college kids. As a result of his diligent support of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity he was inducted as a member of the brotherhood in the years following.He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Catherine Moore Riggin; his children: Christopher Wayne Riggin, and Ashley Riggin Barringer, along with her husband Andrew James Barringer and their son Landon Wade Barringer; his brother, Harold Riggin and wife Brenda. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Cary Cyril Moore; one brother-in-law, Cary M. Moore; 3 sister-in-laws, Linda Quebe (Chris), Vickie Migues (Phill), Tracy Dugas (Alvin); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.Pallbearers are Joshua Smitty Smith, Hayes Carter, Josh Shirley, Blake Stephenson, Jed Dance, and Coy Cockrell. Honorary pallbearers are Travis Wimer, Josh Stanley, and Joseph Barlow (Deployment US Army).Visitation for Mr. Kenneth Edward Riggin, 70, of Choudrant, LA, will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 12:30 PM. at St. Thomas Aquinas of Ruston, Louisiana followed by a funeral Mass at 2:00 PM under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. Officiating the service will be Father Frank Folino, OFM.
