Funeral services for Kenneth Wilton Pettitt, age 77, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Parkview Baptist Church, 1001 Forsythe Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana, with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Interment will follow at New Chapel Hill Cemetery, 61 New Chapel Hill Road, West Monroe, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 18, 2018, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will also be 1:00 P.M. until service time at Parkview Baptist Church.Kenneth Wilton Pettitt was born in Rodessa, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, on July 9, 1940. He went to be with his heavenly father in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana on June 15, 2018. Ken fought a long, hard battle, but is now pain free and rejoicing with his family in Heaven.Ken was a 1963 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. He taught Advanced Mathematics at Fair Park High School in Shreveport for four years. He had the honor of being invited to teach for 2 weeks at West Point. He then moved to Dallas, Texas and began working in the “new” computer programming industry. Ken and Sammie worked in the same office building. They soon married and moved their family to Monroe, Louisiana in 1972. He worked at Central Bank as Vice President of Computer Systems. Ken installed the first Matt ATM machine in Ouachita Parish. He graduated 1977, with his Master's in Banking, from The Colorado School of Banking at the University of ColoradoAfter the flood of 1975, he moved his family to a “hill” in West Monroe. There he made a home and life for 42 years. He left banking to begin a career in sales and printing. In 1988, along with Bob Devinney and Mike Guidry, he began TriStar Graphics Group.Ken touched many lives in North Louisiana through tutoring Mathematics, mentoring and coaching Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball, golfing, fishing, hunting, and the Cutting Horse community. He spent many years studying and teaching bible classes and Sunday school. He was a fierce prayer warrior. In his later years his commitment was to bring everyone he met to Christ. In February 2018, just weeks before illness struck, Ken was ordained a deacon at Parkview Baptist Church.Ken was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Randi Layne Williams; a step-granddaughter, Sarah Lindsey Williams; his parents, Arkansas and Chloie Gladden Pettitt; and in-laws, George and Dorothy Allen Williams.Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sammie Williams Pettitt; daughter Nikki Pettitt Castaldi (Pete); sons, Mark Shaffer, Stephen Shaffer (Liz); the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Shayne Williams, Chloie Williams (Tyler Allen); great-grandson, Carter Layne Allen; step-grandchildren, Alan, Joy, Derrick, Savannah (Jeremy), Cody, Logan, Hunter, Brianna, Brandon (Brenda), Brittany; step-great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Evan; his special German exchange granddaughters, Tatjana and Lilian; sister, Betty Eakin of Shreveport; brother, Bobby Pettitt Sr. of Bossier City; nephews, Bob Pettitt Jr and Jerry Pettitt; niece, Pam Tiner.Pallbearers will be Mark, Stephen, Pete, and his grandsons.Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Parkview Baptist Church.“Well done, thou good and faithful servant:” Matthew 25:21
