Louise Camp joined her Lord and reunited with her husband on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Her husband, Ewell Camp. Jr., predeceased her on September 9, 2017. Louise was the beloved aunt of Bert Collins, Jr., and his wife Kay of Crossett, Arkansas; Ann Nelson and her husband Jim of Bethesda, Maryland; and Larraine Lewis and her husband David of Plano, Texas. She also left behind three of Ewell cousins that she considered her boys and their wives; Roger Camp and wife Pam, Jeff Camp and wife, Debra, John Camp and wife Sherry, all of Calhoun, Louisiana.Mary Louise Carter was born February 13, 1925 in Crossett, Arkansas, the youngest of six children born to Walter James and Annie Belle Andrews Carter. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Scott Carter, Chesley Carter and Ned Carter, and her sisters, Ruby Carter Bussell and Myrtle Carter Collins.After graduating from Huttig, Arkansas, High School, Louise joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corp, a federal program to train young women to become nurses during WW II. She received her nursing training at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana. After receiving her RN designation, she worked for several different physicians in Monroe, before starting to work as a nursing supervisor in nursing homes. The last part of her career was spent working for the State of Louisiana as a nursing home inspector. All her life she served the Lord through her compassionate care for others, for He tells us that whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters, you did for me.Louise married Ewell Camp, Jr., on November 15, 1947, and they settled in the home they built on family land on what is now Camp Road in West Monroe. They spent their entire sixty nine year marriage in this home. God did not bless their marriage with children, but they adopted many young people and lavished their love on them.Louise was a member of First Baptist Church of Calhoun and loved being with her Sunday School class.Louise and Ewell shared a full life, including traveling domestically and abroad, square dancing, raising cattle and spoiling countless pets. But Louise loved nothing more than being with friends and family. She never met a stranger and anyone who entered her home was welcomed as a friend.
