Mary Alice Richmond was born in Choudrant, LA on July 31, 1925.  Jesus called His servant home on January 5, 2019 at the age of 93 years.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Douglas United Methodist Church.  Rev. Jeremy Jones will be officiating the service.  Interment will follow in the Sibley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 until service time at the church.

Mrs. Richmond was the daughter of George and Katie Land.  Mary was a graduate of Choudrant High School class of 1942.  She was a devoted member of Douglas United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and worked in vacation Bible school for many years.  Mary also served with the United Methodist Women’s group for many years.  In 1943, on Christmas Eve, she married John Fred Richmond.  Fred and Mary shared 51 loving years together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Virginia Land Calhoun, and grandchildren: Laura Richmond, Cameron Richmond and Royce Norman, Jr.

Family members remaining to cherish her memory are one daughter: Mary Katherine (Kathie) Farmer, three sons: John Richmond, Jr. and wife Linda; Randall Richmond and wife Terri; Robert Richmond and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Elizabeth Pratt; Michael Richmond and wife Melissa; Amanda Hollis and husband Travis; Carey Tynes and husband Jonathan; William Richmond and wife Amberlee; Nicole Richmond; Railey Richmond; Alyssa Richmond; adopted grandchild, Rhonda Grafton Boyd; 14, great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Alton Calhoun; and niece, Madeline Owens.

Pallbearers include Michael Richmond, William Richmond, Railey Richmond, Travis Hollis, Jonathan Tynes, Jesse Hudnall, and Dan O’Neal.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Douglas United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
