Funeral services for Peter Joseph Battaglia, Sr. will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 3, 2017 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Warren Eckhardt. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe.Peter was born on March 11, 1939 and passed away on November 30, 2017.P.J. was an educator and taught Radio and TV at Delta Ouachita Vo-Tech for 30 years and worked at KNOE TV8, filming sports. During his retirement, he worked for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff Department as a driver for work release. He was in the Army National Guard and did his basic training at Fort Jackson. PJ was a stranger to no one, and his outgoing personality was infectious and made him a friend to many.Pete was preceded in death by his parents; Sam and Nicki Battaglia; and his sister, Rose Marie Battaglia. He is survived by his son, Pete Battaglia, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Jeri, and his daughter, Pam Battaglia Guillory and son-in-law, Clint; grandchildren, Pete Battaglia, III, Jennifer Oglesby (Julian) and Cale Guillory; great grandchildren, Hannah, Pete IV, Rosemary and Natalie Battaglia and Ashlyn Murphy; nephew, Ray Allen, Jr. (Kim, Anzlee and Camden); niece, Kathy Torres and Daniela Torres; step children, Jay McDowell (Misty) and Shana Elliott and step grandchildren, Ashton Elliott, JC Brewster, Dakota McDowell and Mia McDowell; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews and many friends.Pallbearers will be family members and friends.Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.

So sorry to hear about Pete's passing. I have such fond memories of Pete and working with him all those years at TV-8. He always had a kind word for everyone, was just fun to be around and truly cared about the people he worked with. Prayers and thoughts with the family.
