Ray Ashby Kilpatrick Funeral Homes Farmerville, LA Funeral services for Mr. Ray Ashby, age 63, of Downsville, LA., will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Bethel Church of Downsville, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Lowe, assisted by Rev. Laymond Tucker. Interment will follow in Downsville Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, LA. Ray was born on August 25, 1949 in Ruston, LA, and passed away on November 24, 2012 in West Monroe, LA. He was a member of Christ Church in West Monroe. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a farmer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucile Ashby. Survivors include his wife Lou Alice Ashby of Downsville, LA; three children, Mark Ashby of Austin, TX; Will Ashby of Downsville, LA; Carol Elizabeth Britt and husband Thomas of Ruston, LA; grandchildren, Lane Ashby, and Cameron Britt; sister, Liz Hurt of Winnsboro, TX; and Carol King of Downsville, LA; also several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Pallbearers will be Rick Hill, Wayne Hammons, Johnny McFarland, Robert Calhoun, David Wade, Roy Echols, Malcolm Echols, and Donald Lloyd. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. I can't imagine the terrible hurt all families affected by this terrible accident must be experiencing. My heart goes out to all of you. May the peace of God fill your lives and hold you near during this time and in the days ahead. God does provide the strength and endurance needed in each moment we face. I know life circumstances can be very overwhelming and if we can't see or sense God's Presence at the moment, if we continue to look for His Presence and how He is providing or has provided, we will begin to see. I knew Ray as the younger brother of LIz, a friend and classmate from DHS. I am so sorry for the loss this family has suffered, I am keeping the family in my prayers. Hold strong in your faith , The Lord is with you and watches over you.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I have been friends of Carol's for awhile. met Ray only a few times though. but I know he was an awesome man who loved his family. I know he will be missed. Prayers for the family.

Mr. Ray was one of the most caring people I have ever met. He always had a smile on his face and seemed so optimistic about anything that would normally bother someone. He would stop by our office for no reason but to drink a cup of coffee and check on what he affectionately referred to as "his girls". If he happened to stop by on a bad day by the time he left he had us smiling and laughing. He loved his family and it was apparent in the way he talked about his wife, his children and his grandchildren. I consider myself very fortunate to have known him and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Rest in Peace Mr. Ray.....you were loved by many and will be missed by all

I go back with the Ashby Family for a long time. A class mate of Liz, alumni from DHS and a friend of Rays forever. I will miss him so much. He was one of Gods greatest children. My Prayers or with Lou Alice and the children and of course my friend Liz.

A friend forwarded the news to us regarding this horrible accident. We haven't seen you in a long time but we wanted to express our deepest sympathy to each of you and please know that we are praying for you.

Ray was without a doubt the sweetest man it was our pleasure to know. We will miss his smile and his wave as we meet on the road. Our prayers are with his family as they recover from this tragedy. Heaven has gained an extraordinary angel.

I MELT RAY BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S WHEN I WORKED AT THE FARMERS CO-OP. HE WAS A GENTLEMAN AND WAS WONDERFUL TO VISIT WITH. I, M SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS AND ALL THE OTHER YOU ARE GOING THRU. I lost my best friend Saturday night. Ray Ashby was like a brother to me. Ray Ashby was the kindest most gentle man I have ever known. He always had a smile on his face. He would help anyone who asked for his help and sometimes even those who were too embarrassed to ask. Ray was a Christian. He would share his faith in unobtrusive ways. He had a way about him that made you like him. He was genuine in every way. His faith in God was as strong as steel. If you ever met anyone that didn't like Ray Ashby....he wasn't worth knowing. Ray was kind and caring in every facet of his life. I loved Ray Ashby and will miss him more than I can say. I know without a doubt that he is in Heaven with all his loved ones that preceded him. It is our loss and Heaven's gain. I will miss you terribly Ray but I know one day you will greet me at Heaven's Gate when my time has come. God Bless You Ray.
