Memorial services for Ricky Smith of West Monroe will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until service time with Bro. Joel Dyke officiating.
Ricky was the greatest family man. He never met a stranger and was known to always tell people how much he loved his wife and son. In his eyes, his marriage of over 40 years to her and their son were two of the greatest accomplishments in his life. Ricky never missed an opportunity to brag on them. He loved spending time with Bonnie in the yard working on outside projects, going fishing with her and just being with her. One of his favorite things was seeing her in new outfits and his eyes lighting up because he loved her dearly. Ricky enjoyed family outings with her and Ian, especially when it came to church and watching his son play music and sing. Ricky was a proud father to Ian watching him learn and grow from experiences in life from piano lessons to graduating college, entering professional life, and going back to school. He enjoyed time with Ian fishing at Lake D’arbonne spillway competing over who could catch the most fish, spending time at the gun range, and going to countless concerts because of their shared love of live music. Ricky was front and center of Ian’s music and was his biggest fan. While Ricky may be gone from this earth his legacy and memories will live on through Bonnie and Ian as well as the countless lives he touched over his 22 year nursing career. He was loved so dearly by his co-workers and the patients he took care of over the years. However, this is not merely a goodbye as it is a see you later and celebration of life as a loving husband, doting father, wonderful friend, and amazing caregiver. Ricky was an angel to many here in life, but now he is our angel in Heaven.
Ricky is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie Smith; son Ian Smith; mother Jean Davidson Smith.
