Funeral services for Mr. Shelby E. Rowland 74 , of Downsville, LA, will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Crestview Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA. Officiating the service will be Bro. Wayne Whiteside. Interment will follow at Crestview Baptist Church Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Rowland was born on October 14, 1942 in Bearden, AR., and passed away on June 28, 2017 in Farmerville, LA. He was a founding member and deacon of Crestview Baptist Church in Farmerville and a retired supervisor from BellSouth Telephone Co. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving from 1960-1964. Shelby was a passionate and loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He read the 23rd Psalms every morning, loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and carpentry. He also collected rare coins, was fascinated by American History, and loved to make his family laugh. He is preceded in death by his father, Winford Doyle Rowland, mother, Lennie Beatrice Hearnsberger Foster, grandmother, Corine Hearnsberger, nephew, Joe Rowland, and sister, Diane Williams.Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years Shelby Jean Rowland of Downsville, LA; children, Theresa Rowland McCoy (Kerry), and Marshall Doyle Rowland; grandchildren, Morgan Taylor and Macie Bell McCoy, Daniel Evan and Marissa Isabel Rowland, brothers, Jerry Rowland (Rose), Dewayne Foster, Doyle Edward Rowland (Linda) and sisters, Sharon Kelley, Pam Stutts, and Susan Hugens and numerous nieces, and nephews.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA.Online condolence messages may be sent to the family www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.comKilpatrick Funeral HomeFarmerville, LA.
