Shirley Ann Johnson Funeral services for Shirley Ann Johnson, 68, of Haile, La, are 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in the Chapel of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, La., with Reverend Lyndon Carpenter and Reverend Donald Reeves officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside services at the family cemetery on Wheeler Road in Haile, LA. Ann Johnson was born on July 7, 1943, in Haile, La., and passed away in Farmerville, La.,, Sunday, June 24, 2012, following a lengthy illness. Ann attended and graduated from Linville High School and was a staunch supporter of both its academic and athletic programs. She was an icon at many athletic events while cheering on nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Ann worked at Scott, Truck, and Tractor in Monroe and also as an administrator at the Sterlington Clinic. Prior to her illness, Ann enjoyed traveling across the country. Although on occasion she would frequent the beach, her passion was the mountains and the Old West. She enjoyed horseback riding and the occasional mule ride, white water rafting, and skiing in the Colorado Rockies. Ann also enjoyed painting in her spare time and was a rather talented artist. Ann became the matriarch of the Wheeler family following her mother's death in 1987. She was especially a beloved figure for the nieces and nephews. Her positive influence and spontaneous wit will be felt and remembered for generations to come. Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Mae Wheeler, and her father Charlie William Wheeler Sr. Survivors include six brothers: Tommie Lee Wheeler, Charlie “C.W.” Wheeler, Jr. and wife, Bonita, Donald Wheeler, Sr., Joe Wheeler and wife, Lynn, Bruce Wheeler, and John Wheeler and wife Sue; 14 nieces and nephews: Donald Wheeler, Jr., Darren Wheeler, Joseph Wheeler, Julie Wheeler-Risk, Tommy Joe Wheeler, Angela Wheeler, Sherrye Wheeler-Naser, Tyrel Wheeler, Willie Wheeler, Gary Wheeler, Logan Wheeler, Chancy Wheeler-Parker, Kenji Wheeler, and Ryan Wheeler; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews Donald Wheeler, Jr., Darren Wheeler, Joseph Wheeler, Tommy Joe Wheeler, Tyrel Wheeler, Willie Wheeler, Logan Wheeler, Ryan Wheeler and Timothy Parker. Honorary pallbearers are Kenji Wheeler, and Gary Wheeler. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the Farmerville Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion shown during Ann's final years.
